Welcome!
Ariel, thanks for your recent contributions to Wikigogy. I hope you will enjoy Wikigogy. The help box in the left column contains Help, Community portal and other links that may help you get up to speed with Wikigogy. Welcome! --Roger 20:56, 15 May 2008 (CDT)
Copyright issue
Only content free to be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license may be added to Wikigogy (more about that at copyleft). So unless that permission is given by the copyright holder of whatever content, eg. song lyrics or movie summaries, we cannot copy and past their content to Wikigogy. Fair use is an exception to this for use in the classroom but unfortunately does not extend to publishing copyrighted stuff on the Web without permission. Enter Creative Commons licenses with wich we use copyright law to freely share our work digitally with each other, such as on Wikigogy. However, in order not to short circuit the legal validity of this we must follow the rules of copyright. So pretty much you can only put on Wikigogy what you yourself wrote or otherwise poses copyrights to.
- Copyright violation?
- Across the Universe - a movie lesson has some copyright infringements that need resolving I think (IMDB.com content?).
- Meet Joe Black - a movie lesson has some copyright infringements that need resolving I think (IMDB.com content? and Beatles song lyrics?).
(27 Dresses - a movie lesson is great as is because you wrote it all yourself, I think. No copyright issue. Thanks!)
Thanks for contributing to Wikigogy!
Ariel, could you please help clear up the above copyright issues? (Maybe link to lyrics instead of include them and write up movie summaries in your own words?) --Roger 20:56, 15 May 2008 (CDT)
