Government programs

Jump to: navigation, search

A few countries have government-run programs for recruiting foreign teachers. These generally take new university graduates and do not require teacher training or experience:

  • Japan's JET http://www.jetprogramme.org -- The JET Programme accepts applicants up to the age of 35 and there are no requirements for teaching or Japan experience. The salary is competitive (although less so recently due to a falling exchange rate) and most participants enjoy their time on JET. As an Assistant Language Teacher, some may find they do not have as much flexibility with their teaching as they would like.
  • Hong Kong's NET http://www.emb.gov.hk/index.aspx?nodeID=262&langno=1
  • South Korea: EPIK http://epik.knue.ac.kr
